TreatmentsDERMAL FILLERS | Skin by Lidia Nova

In our Clinic we use two main cosmetic Injections, we refer to them as “anti-wrinkle injections” and dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections smooth out and relax wrinkles. Dermal filler to add volume to the face and contour facial features.

What are Dermal fillers Injections

Understanding the basics of volume loss, of the face dermal filler injections may be used may also be used to restore and enhance the youthful curves of the face by adding volume to cheeks and lips and defining the natural contours of the jaw, chin and other areas. Dermal fillers can be used also to smooth out wrinkles, deep folds and improve the appearance of scars Dermal fillers are made up of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid that closely resembles a naturally occurring material in the body that also hydrates skin.

Facial Ageing

Is multifactorial, wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. As people get older, their skin gets thinner, drier, and less elastic, and less able to protect itself from damage. This leads to wrinkles, creases, and lines on the skin. Facial Ageing is also due to the loss of fat pads and bone density loss

Cause of volume loss and loss of facial contours

  • Fat pads support the face, as we age fat pads in the face are reduced. The loss of fat pats in the face results in the slow deflation of the cheek lips lower face, becomes saggier and the lips become thinner
  • Bones are the support structure of the skin as, bone density decreases as part of ageing causing the bony skeleton to change leading to deeper eye sockets, flatter cheeks, a less defined jaw and the chin slowly recedes

How it works

Dermal fillers are made up of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid (HA) that closely resembles a naturally occurring substance within the skin. Hyaluronic Acid stabilises the skin structure and attracts and binds water to improve hydration and elasticity of the skin and in the body. Dermal fillers come in different thickness and can last between six to 12 months.

Common areas that can be treated with dermal fillers include:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Jowls
  • Jawline
  • Tear troughs
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands

Results

Results of Dermal fillers are instant, so you can see a visible result immediately after injection. It takes up to 4 weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue and some fillers are more cohesive than others.

Most people choose to receive a repeat treatment within 6 to 18 months depending on what type of filler is used and where they are injected. Top ups might be needed before that for some clients who need that extra volume. Without treatment the correction gradually fades, and the skin will gradually return to its original appearance

What to expect

Prior to your first treatment you will have a consult with our doctor to assess whether you are a suitable candidate for dermal fillers and discuss any concerns or questions you may have in relation to your dermal filler treatment. You will also be asked to complete and sign a consent form.

The procedure involves the area to be prepared with a clinical antiseptic and a numbing cream will be applied to the selected area. The prescribed product will be injected into the prepared selected area with a fine needle or cannula. The injections may sting for a few seconds and feel tender.

After the procedure you may experience:

  • Localised pain, mild to moderate, usually resolved in two to five days improving with time
  • Tenderness to touch, which is usually resolved in two to five days improving with time
